My Educational Philosophy

I believe that education is one of the most important parts of a persons life. It doesn't stop with the graduation of highschool, even if one doesn't choose to go on to college. We are educated constantly through media, parents, and friends, but most important are the teachers who educate us. I believe that all people deserve and equal chance at an excellent education and it is up to the teachers to do this. Children and adults learn when they feel what they are learning is relevant and exciting.

To be a successful person in our society, there are fundmental principals and foundations that one should know. Besides the basic three "r's", I believe learning about people and culture are also important to learn about.

Content should be presented and taught by a knowledgable person who is truly interested in the content they are teaching. It should be challenging, sometimes frustrating, but fun and interesting, using many different materials, media, and methods to help students learn.

I would love to teach in elementary. I want to teach children to be able to be very succesful in whatever they attempt to do educationally and relationally. I want to teach that learning is fun and it can get you many places.

I have two children and I have been a substitute teacher. I feel that my heart for children and my love of the classroom will help me to achieve my goal of becoming a very good teacher. I am creative, I love the arts, and I love to make children laugh.

I believe that I would be a strong contribution to the teaching profession in that I truly desire to see children succeed and learn. I want to be an exceptional teacher, not just one that is easily forgotten. I want to make a difference in the way the teaching profession operates and I want to see signifgant improvement.
